Blake: Annabelle (Annie) On Sunday, January 27, 2002, Mrs. Annie Blake of Stony Plain, passed away peacefully. Annie is survived by her loving husband, Dugald (Douglas); two sisters, Margaret Nichols of Stony Plain and Bessie Smith of Langley, B.C.; one brother, William (Martha) Carsell of Wainwright; sister-in-law Ann (Stan) Sled of Parksville, B.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Annie was predeceased by her parents, one sister, one brother and two brothers-in-law. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Howard & McBride Westlawn, 16310 Stony Plain, Edmonton. Cremation has taken place. Lavine: Peter Norman Lavine, 67, passed away Jan 23/02 in Calgary, Alberta, after a lengthy and courageous struggle with cancer. His daughter Debbie was at his bedside. Peter was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force from l952-70, serving in France and many eastern Canadian Bases. He married his now former wife Caryl Haahr in l960. From l970-80 he was a resident of Drumheller, employed at the Nova Plant in Hussar and a very active member of the Drumheller Legion. Peter loved the "Drumheller hills" and always called Drumheller his home. He moved to Brooks where he lived for 16 years before being moved to Calgary due to his severe illness and disability. He was predeceased by his grandson, Ryan Michael Tremblay in l983; his father and mother of Chateauguay, Que. in 1986 and l997; several brothers and sisters of Montreal, Que. and Boston, Mass. Peter is survived by his loving children, daughter Debbie (Brian Lanigan); grandaughters Alysia & Stephanie Carrier; son Pete (Cindy Lavine), all of Calgary; daughter Christine Lavine; grandaughter Vanissa Tremblay and grandson Logan Tremblay, all of Stettler; son Patrick (Carrie Rowell); grandson Jesse Wayne Lavine, all of Morrin. He is also survived by one brother, Jacque (Linda) of Virginatown, Ont. The family will be in Drumheller on Saturday afternoon, Feb 02/02, to scatter Peters ashes in the hills he loved so much and invite anyone who knew him to a Memorial Luncheon in the Drumheller Legion to celebrate his life. 24/01/2002

Riggs: Vernon Riggs. It is with great sadness that we announce that Vern passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, on January 27, 2002 at the age of 65 years. Vern was born on February 23, 1936 and spend most of his early years helping his Mother, Ettie, run the Tip Top Tea Room. After his mother passed away, his uncle Lloyd took him under his wing, and developed his love of farming. Vern spent many hours volunteering his time in the community Ð as Santa's helper, MC for many community gatherings, building and fixing things, and was currently the President of the Morrin Lions Club. He also served on the volunteer fire department for many years. His first love was his family though, to whom he was devoted. He took great pride in ensuring his family was nurtured and well looked after. Vern leaves to mourn his loving wife of 45 years, Shirley; and children Debbie (John) Wynia, Terry (Brenda), Gord (Jo-Anne), and Lisa (Troy) Wolf. He will also be sadly missed, but always remembered by his grandchildren Corinna, Jenna, Colton, Jessica, Tasha, and Candice; his mother-in-law Ethel Devaleriola; his sister-in-law Margaret (Mick) Chambers, along with many close friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2002 at 2:00 PM at the Morrin Community Hall with Reverend Glenn Jarvis officiating. Interment will follow in the Morrin Cemetery. Rotzoll: Horst Gunther, a long time resident of Drumheller passed away suddenly at his home, Jan. 21, 2002 at the age of 69. He was born in Pfeilsdorf, Germany and came to Canada in 1949. Horst leaves to mourn his passing, Arda Robinson of Drumheller, her daughter Lori (Paul) Benninger of Calgary, son Edward, daughter Laura (Randy) Oxbury of Campbell River, B.C., daughter Carolyn Rotzoll of Drumheller, sister Ingrid (Dick) Black of Cochrane and nephew Marcus Black of Calgary, four grandchildren, Monica, Curtis, Abigail and Rachel of Campbell River, B.C. Horst was predeceased by parents, Richard and Gertrude Rotzoll. Respecting his wishes, there will be no service. Webb: Peter Thomas Webb, beloved father of Monique and Michelle, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Friday, January 25, 2002, at the age of 58 years. Born on December 22, 1943, in Calgary, Peter attended public school in Drumheller and high school at St. Georges Boys School in Vancouver, B.C. After a semester at M.R.C., he joined the Bank of Montreal for a number of years before transferring to the Bank of B.C. in Vancouver, Nanaimo and White Rock. In 1980, he opened Kennedy's neighborhood pub in Delta, B.C. where he became life-long friends with numerous clients and pub owners from the lower mainland. His incredible interest and knowledge in sports led to a sports card business for a few years before he moved to Calgary to take over Shotz Bar and Grill. He is survived by his daughters Michelle Webb, of Yale, B.C., Monique Webb, of Calgary, AB, grandchildren Aaron, Kyler, Morgana, Kelly, Brittany and Amber, his sister Linda Millard, of Red Deer, AB and wife Millie Webb, of White Rock, BC. He is also survived by Aunt Aileen, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many good friends. Peter was pre-deceased by his mother Joyce Webb in 1991, and father Tom Webb in 2001. He will be loved and dearly missed by everyone.
