Davies: Mary Margaret (Davies) Young. November 8, 1913 - February 9, 2002. Mary was the second oldest of five children, born November 8, 1913 in Calgary, Alberta. She married Ken Young, December 5, 1939. Mary and Ken resided on the original Young homestead in the Lone Butte area, which had been in the Young family for 60 years. In 1973, Ken and Mary retired and sold the farm. At that time, they moved to Hanna. A big adjustment for them both. They did enjoy the going on of town life. The two of them enjoyed driving down to Arizona each year to escape the winter months. They also loved to camp locally and visited many friends and family. Ken passed away January 22, 1992. Mary continued to live in their home in Hanna until she moved to the Hanna Lodge. And later, to the Nursing home in Cereal and then moved to the Palliser Nursing Home in Hanna. Mary had a long fight with Alzheimer Disease. Mary is survived by her sister; Else Berke of Calgary and her family, brother John (Ethel) Davies of Rosedale and their family and will be sadly missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Mary Edith, in 1960, Daniel Davies in 1967, her husband, Kenneth Young in 1992, brother Thomas David Davies in 1985, nephew Gerald Davey in 1990 and sister Jennie Evelyn (Davey) Evans in 2001. A memorial service will be held at The United Church in Hanna, February 14, 2002 at 1:00 p.m.. Dolphin: Mrs. Selma Dolphin of Drumheller, Alberta, passed away suddenly on February 15, 2002, at the age of 72. Selma was born in Swalwell, Alberta, on June 1, 1929. She spent most of her life in Drumheller. She was predeceased by her husband Richard on March 19, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Jolayne (Ray) Vermette of Calgary, Wendy (Dale) Yearous of Cochrane, and Shelley Dolphin of Drumheller; her grandsons Rodney (Kim) and Shane (Michelle); and precious great-granddaughter Danielle. Friends and family wishing to express their condolences are welcome to do so at Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 23, 2002, between the times of 2:00 and 4:00 P.M. Jones: Paulette Joyce Paulette was born in Edmonton on February 21, 1948 and passed away peacefully at the Drumheller Hospital on February 14, 2002. She is survived by her husband and best friend Morgan, her aunts: Stella Facette of Canmore, Helen Clarke of New Westminster, B.C., Elsie Fedora of Edmonton, Dora Pasemko of Canmore, Rose Towpich of St. Albert and uncle Bill Pasemko (Rose) of Canmore and special cousin Paulette Towpich of Medicine Hat along with numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Andrew Yaremko in 1971 and Annie Yaremko in 1998, also by her uncles; Martin Pasemko, Pete Pasemko and Roy Pasemko. Paulette was educated in Drumheller and lived her early years in East Coulee returing back to the valley again in 1987. Married to Morgan in 1967, she worked in Calgary for Alberta Government Telephones and later for Western Union Insurance Co. and then with the Saan Stores. She loved and cared for many pets - most of whom were originally abandoned strays and was extremely proud of her little peek-a-poo "Sabrina". An avid gardener, Paulette also enjoyed the beauty of flowers in her yard, especially roses. Services were arranged by Personal Alternative Funeral Services and will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Nazerene with the Reverend Wayne McCracken officiating. This will be followed by a luncheon at the East Coulee Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
