Boyd: Rose Boyd (Fielding) of Cambria, AB, passed away April 5, 2002 at the Drumheller Hospital at age 75. Rose leaves behind one daughter Kathleen (Ron) Goruik, daughter-in-law Pamela Shannon, brother Ernie (Audrey) Fielding, sister Vera Adamson, sister-in-law Audrey Boyd, her beloved grand- children - Debbie, Brad, Carrie, Jonathon, Abby, Jeremy, Michael, Sarah, Tane, Robby and three great grandchildren - Tyler, Caitlin, Taylor, several nieces and nephews and many friends including a very special friend, Erna Parrotto. Predeceased by Rose were her husband, John (Joc), her sons Robert and Bryan, daughter Gloria and two infant children, John and Rose Marie. Rose was born in Manville, AB. She met and married John while working in the hospital at Wayne. They lived in the Drumheller area and settled in Cambria, where they raised their family and eventually retired. All who knew Rose shall forever miss her. She gave all our lives so much love, caring compassion, humour and joy. A service of Remembrance will be held on April 11, 2002 at Courtney Winter's Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at the Rosedale Community Hall. Church: Allyn Sophia Church was born and passed away on April 3, 2002. Allyn leaves to mourn her passing, her parents Roger and Gayle Church, her sister Alyssa, her brother Joshua, Grandparents, Doug and Janis Siemens of Morrin, Harry and Virginia Church of Hesketh, Great Grandparents, Oddie Moe of Morrin and John and Beth Siemens of Drumheller as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A heartfelt thank you to our family and to the caring staff of the Three Hills Hospital who helped us lighten the sorrow of our daughter's death. She remains now in the arms of Jesus and in this we take great comfort. A private funeral service was held Tuesday, April 9, 2002 with internment at Sarcee Butte Cemetery with pastor Wayne McCrackin officiating. Hodge: Lawrence F. Hodge. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Francis Hodge on April 8, 2002 at the age of 66. Lawrence was born on May 25, 1935 in Drumheller, Alberta. Lawrence attended school at Hillsgreen. Lawrence then worked as a farmer and finished his career with the MD of Starland. Lawrence married Nancy Slifka of Stettler on June 27, 1959. Lawrence and Nancy had five children (3 boys, 2 girls). Lawrence enjoyed playing cards, visiting with people and going to see a good rodeo. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Louise as well as his five children, David and Shelley, Lloyd and Mary, Roger, Barbara and Blaine Mepham, Donna and Ronald Nelson, and nine grandchildren. Lawrence was predeceased by his mother Florence (1989), his father Albert (1962), his brothers Allen (1996) and Aubrey (1998). Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2002 at 2:00pm at the Morrin Community Hall with Reverend Blair Kirkby officiating. Interment will follow at the Morrin Cemetery. Lawrence: Ken was born July 29, 1956 in Drumheller. He attended school at Majestic and Delia. He moved to Kelowna, B.C. with his family in 1971. Ken passed away suddenly in Edmonton, Alberta where he was employed. Ken loved children, animals, and the outdoors, exploring every backroad where ever he travelled. Ken will be sadly missed by his mother and father, Joyce and Jack of Kelowna, B.C., his sister Pat and husband Jim Andersen of Delia, nephews Jeff (Carla) and son Tyler of Delia, Colin (Heidi) and daughter Taylor of Castor, Alberta, uncles Harry and Jack Morrison (Joan) of Delia, and numerous cousins and friends. Simpson: Leslie Frank Simpson passed away on March 29, 2002 at the age of 77 years in his home at Sylvan Lake, AB surrounded by family. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughters; Leslie Ann - Tink - Craig of Drumheller and Karen (Dwain) Johnson of Sylvan Lake; his grandchildren; Shaun (Tracie) Craig of Drumheller, Tyler Johnson of Lloydminster, Darren (Melanie Fitka) Craig of Calgary, Danielle (Croft Monroe-Bowes) Craig of Drumheller and Nita (Mike Nelson) Johnson of Red Deer; his great grandson, McKenzie Henry of Lacombe and his great granddaughters; Shayla Nelson of Red Deer and Rylee Monroe - Bowes of Drumheller. Les is also survived by his daughter, Bonnie Freeman of Red Deer, grandson Jimi Freeman of Calgary, brother Gibby (Vera) and sister June de Bernardo both of Drumheller and his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Iris, and his father, Frank and his nephew Terry. Les was born, raised and schooled in Nacmine, AB. He worked for many years in the coal mines of the valley including the Monarch and Commander mines in Nacmine and the Western Monarch in East Coulee. He later did some strip mining in Beinfait, SK. After returning to Drumheller Les was employed with Tom Manning Electric, Sparky Chuippi's service station and drove gas truck for Howard Odland and British American (BA) Petroleum. In 1958, he became operator of the Royalite service station (later known as the Gulf service station) where the Hi-Ho Restaurant is now located. Les ran the service station with the help of family and many, many people who credited him with being a fair, decent and well respected employer. When Les retired after 28 years in the business, he moved to Bentley, AB and then to Sylvan Lake where he remained until his passing. As per Les' request, he was cremated and his ashes were buried with his parents in the Drumheller Cemetery with his family in attendance.
