Reptile World

Drumheller has been known as the home of prehistoric creatures. A few of those ancient creatures are still alive, right in downtown Drumheller at Reptile World.
Reptile World is the largest reptile exhibit in Canada. It features about 200 reptiles and amphibians including Fred the alligator, who tips the scale at 600 pounds.
“The space is great. There is room for more layout of cages and more space to do more school talks,” said Dave Bethel owner of Reptile World.
Bethel also said that there is always someone on-hand to introduce visitors to Brittany, the friendly boa constrictor of Reptile World.
The exhibit also features two Burmese pythons including Elizabeth who weighs in at up to 200 pounds (depending on when she is fed). Reptile World also boasts of a black mamba, one of the 20 most deadly snakes in the world.
The private exhibit attracts about 40,000 to 45,000 visitors a year. Reptile World is dedicated to the preservation of this fast disappearing group of animals. They are striving to meet our goals of captive reproduction of endangered species, public education and innovative husbandry techniques.
While you are in downtown Drumheller to check out Reptile World, see what the area has to offer. Reptile World is in close proximity to the Badlands Historical Museum and the World’s Largest Dinosaur. There is also myriad of shops, restaurant and services in the area for the most discerning shoppers, all within walking distance.
To find Reptile World entering Drumheller from the south, continue along Highway 9 to the intersection with Highway 10. Continue through the intersection along 5th Street following the signs leading to Downtown Drumheller, turn left at 3rd Avenue. Reptile World is on the left hand side of 3rd Avenue at 1st Street East.
Reptile Worlds’ summer hours are from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
